Institutional Investment In Affordable Housing

About the report

The research summarises the results of our survey into the attitudes and opinions of institutional investors on affordable housing investment, specifically inflation-linked income strips. It is clear that the marketplace would benefit from much greater transparency and we hope this report goes some way to achieving that goal.

The investor survey revealed real consistency in demand for affordable housing investment, with clear parameters to be considered. For an expansion of affordable housing delivery in the UK, private sector funding options such as Income Strips will need to be considered and it is encouraging to see that investors are hopeful that a marketplace can be created.

This paper has given some real clarity on the depth and scope of demand from institutional investors to help bridge the potential funding gap to the housing sector. What is apparent is the versatility and flexibility investors are happy to provide in order to meet the needs of providers.
