What is ARLA Propertymark?
ARLA Propertymark is the leading voice in the residential lettings and property management industry. For nearly 25 years, ARLA Propertymark has been actively promoting the highest standards across all sectors of the Private Rented Sector and campaigning for regulation. It provides letting agents with training and legal advice, supporting them and ensuring they are current on legislative changes. ARLA Propertymark has long been providing financial protection for landlords and tenants and recently successfully campaigned to make Client Money Protection mandatory for letting agents.
Why use an ARLA Propertymark Agent?
Using an ARLA Propertymark agent will give you Propertymark Protection, which is not the case with all letting agents.
There is currently no mandatory regulation of lettings agents which means anyone can run a lettings agency. However, by using an ARLA Propertymark agent you are guaranteed protection and peace of mind when you are trying to find a new home, or looking to rent out your own property. This is because only ARLA Propertymark agents are regulated to ensure they work to a higher standard than the law requires, operating in a transparent manner and providing services which are inspected independently.
Your income will be backed by Propertymark Client Money Protection, and the agent will belong to one of the three government approved independent redress schemes. They will also hold appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance.
JLL and ARLA Propertymark
At JLL, we aim for all our lettings teams to be qualified ARLA Propertymark agents. We also expect any new unqualified staff to become ARLA Propertymark qualified within 12 months of joining JLL. The current qualification consists of passing four exams, including a complex module covering all legal aspects of lettings. All our staff undertake continued regular professional development and refresher training.
