JLL are pleased to have partnered with AccessiblePRS to standardise accessibility and inclusion in the lettings sector.
Why is the scheme important?
In the UK, there are currently 1.8m households that contain at least one person with a disability, which includes 1.2m wheelchair users. Additionally, we have an ageing population that will see 1 in 4 of us aged over 65 by the year 2036.
The scheme aims to educate letting agents to understand disabled renters needs by providing training on how to provide clearer information so that listings pass the ‘3am test’ i.e can a disabled renter make an informed decision whether to proceed on a property, while looking at 3am, without the need to call an agent for further information.
How is JLL helping?
We are improving all our listings and marketing information to include key words and phrases relating to accessibility. We are also updating our floorplans, photographs and virtual tours to ensure potential tenants have all the information needed to make an informed decision as to whether a property meets their requirements.
In line with Material Information updates, where accessible features exist, they will be included with three additional features of ‘step free access’, ‘wet room’ (includes flat floor shower) and ‘lateral living’ (any property that has living room. Kitchen, bathroom and at least one bedroom on entry level)
