JLL Residential Privacy Notice


How JLL collects and uses personal information about residential tenants.
This Privacy Statement says how JLL Residential (part of JLL in the United Kingdom) collects and uses personal information about tenants (including guarantors and occupants). This Privacy Statement may be updated from time to time, and should be read alongside JLL’s general privacy statement (which can be found at  https://www.jll.co.uk/en/privacy-statement) The general privacy statement includes other useful details such as on Privacy Rights and concerns.

The legal basis for collecting and using personal information about tenants
The personal information of tenants (and individuals connected with them) is primarily processed as a necessary part of entering or being a party to the tenancy agreement. For instance, this can include undertaking reference checks on tenants or communicating with tenants regarding their tenancy.

In some cases, personal information will be processed in order to comply with legal obligations. For instance, this can relate to Right to Rent under the Immigration Act 2016.

Additional reasons for processing personal information:
Tenants should be aware of some additional reasons for processing personal information. Examples of this are:
• CCTV images or access records for tenants and visitors to rented properties;
• Managing finances (including deposits) relating to the property;
• Ensuring the landlord’s compliance with their tenancy.

This information can be used to prevent or detect crime, or to assist in the collection or assessment of taxes.

Who might we share your personal information with?
Recipients could include:
• property managing agents appointed by your landlord to manage the property on their behalf;
• customer care team and concierge of the development in which the property is situated;
• inventory clerks;
• maintenance contractors;
• local authorities or government agencies;
• utilities suppliers;
• insurers;
• referencing agencies;
• tenancy deposit protection schemes;
• finance companies (e.g. to mortgage companies);
• legal advisers;
• and any other third party with an interest in the tenancy.

Sources of personal information
JLL may obtain personal information relevant to your tenancy from sources such as:
• tenants, guarantors and occupants themselves;
• tenancy referees (e.g. employers, accountants);

• third party payees
• local authorities or government agencies;
• utilities suppliers;
• maintenance contractors or service providers to the property.

At a minimum, the following personal information for tenants will be processed:
• first and last name;
• home and/or contact address;
• telephone number or any other number you provide;
• e-mail address;
• contents of emails sent by the tenant;
• banking information (e.g. for direct debits);
• identification and immigration documents (e.g. passports and visas).
